EUROCETOX; European Conference on the Replacement, Reduction and Refinement of Animal Experiments in Ecotoxicology; 28-29 June

The coference takes place 28th - 29th of June 2012 in Eawag, Dübendorf, Switzerland.

Scope of the conference

Current chemical risk assessment and effluent and water quality monitoring require ecotoxicity testing using vertebrates, in particular fish, amphibians and birds. Due to increased ethical concerns, the development and acceptance of alternative methods is timely. The conference aims to provide a platform for young scientists and experts from academia, industry and regulation in the field of 3Rs in environmental risk assessment with a focus on the current state and future directions of the development, implementation and application of the 3Rs, from bench to regulatory acceptance. The programme includes presentations from invited speakers, as well as talks and poster presentations selected from the open submission.

Thematic blocks and key words:
• Experimental approaches (model systems; mechanisms of toxicity; adverse outcome pathways; test set-ups and standardization; concepts of in vivo-in vitro relationships)
• Computational approaches (physiologically based quantitative computational models; computational systems biology; quantitative structure activity; structural alerts)
• Integrated testing strategies (high throughput screening; visualization and quantitative analysis; linking chemical exposures and effects; in silico methods).
