Part of the laboratory for molecular and cellular toxicology is separated from the rest of the research facilities on a restricted access bases and is well equipped for both prokaryotic and eukaryotic applications. The prokaryotic lab is equipped as a class 2 general microbiology lab, it holds all lab equipment necessary for bacterial applications, e.g. horizontal flows, incubators, shakers, centrifuges, autoclaves, automatic pipetting devices and a laboratory robot. The eukaryotic lab(s) consist of two separated tissue culture labs provided with class 3 safety cabinets for tissue culture and a number of CO2 incubators for temperatures above and below room temperature. Available detection equipment includes optical density, fluorescence and luminescence, as well as radioactive counting devices. All of these instruments are high throughput microplate handling instruments, some of which equipped with plate stackers. Within the umbrella of the complete research group, the cellular toxicology group has the disposition of coulter counters, flow cytometry, RT-PCR instruments etc…. Hence most cellular techniques can be handled from within the group.
